Wire Cloth & Wire Mesh

Wire cloth, woven metal, wire mesh (and all the other names for this stuff) is another material used for classification. You'll find woven steel used on everything from larger dredges to shaker decks on big wash plants to massive trommel drums. The stuff comes in some seriously rugged sizes with woven wires as thick as your thumb. Lots of places carry various sizes of wire mesh, but for the really big stuff, check your local scrap yard. Quarry operations go through the stuff pretty regularly and the worn woven metal ends up at the scrap yard.

Online you can try most any of the sponsors at right. They all seem to carry it. I've also seen it at Direct Metals, but again, check the scrap yard and other used options too. Heck, I know there's a chunk of wire mesh and some punch plate laying out by my Mother's burn barrel...

I've not seen the stuff on ebay or other auction sites, but you might also check the classified sections of the various prospector forums.
