Punch Plate

Punch plate is essentially sheet metal with regularly spaced holes and is used to classify material in applications from dredges to trommels and eveything in between. Classification is obviously dependant on the size of the holes and that is dependant on application.

You can find punch plate at larger hardware stores, scrap yards and metal dealer, but it can also be found online at decent prices. McMaster-Carr carries punch plate under raw materials/perforated materials (bottom right). Online Metals carries perforated sheet in a variety of metals from aluminum to stainless to hot rolled steel. Direct Metals is another online source. Lastly, it does come up on ebay now and then, though it's hard to find among the dinner plates and other brick-a-brack. Hopefully I've got this console below tuned to just show the punch plate...
